Weary and Light Counseling

Just like anything that is beautiful, it evolves. Over time, Weary and Light has grown into a space where people are able to be seen as their stories are attended to. Through combining my love for creating and my love for being with people who are hurting or searching, Weary and Light is a place where joy and sorrow can exist together. My hope is that through my creative and therapeutic offerings, people will become comfortable with “the mess” and learn to enter its beauty with safe company, ultimately becoming more of themselves.

My current work is under the guidance and supervision of Corinne Vance, LPC-S and my supervisor Beau Armistead, LPC at Sojourn Counseling here in Birmingham, AL.

My Approach

I believe that everyone has a story and everyone’s story matters. Whether you are struggling with self esteem, anxiety, depression, or lacking the quality of life you always dreamed of, it is not too late. With a person centered and trauma informed approach, together we can discover your story and experience healing. My hope is that through safe and attuned presence to your story, you’ll find the courage to be all that you were created to be.

Utilizing creative techniques of narrative expression like StoryWork in therapy, your story is likely to become an integrated and hopeful part of your heart. I specialize in:

  • Grief

  • Family systems

  • Adult children of addicts

  • Self esteem / identity development

  • Infertility and loss

  • Spiritual doubt, abuse, and exploration

  • Attachment

Taking the step to seek help and honor your story takes courage. For those interested in incorporating faith in Jesus, I would be honored to walk alongside God’s love with you. I hold immense hope for your healing. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns. I am excited about the beauty of your life as you learn to live from your heart.

If you desire to take the next steps towards wholeness, you can reach out here. I look forward to doing this healing work with you!

  • As a graduate from Colorado Christian University in Clinical Mental Health, I am beginning my career as an Associate Licensed Counselor with Sojourn Counseling. I am under the supervision of Corinne Vance, LPC-S while accruing hours towards my professional license. Because I am a ALC, I cannot currently take insurance, but would gladly talk about my sliding scale options with you that I get to provide through Sojourn’s generosity.

  • I am passionate about creating affordable spaces for people to heal. Currently, a standard 50 minute meeting is $125. However, if that is financially not doable for you, I would love to talk about my sliding scale options!

  • As a person well versed in trauma informed care our time together will be safe, confidential, and eye-opening. With a cup of coffee in hand and a knack for engaging people’s stories in new ways, my hope is that you will be able to embrace your most authentic self and learn how to live from your heart.
